The Peanuts were created by Charles Schulz. He created the entire Peanuts gang of characters in 1952. That's almost exactly 50 years of Snoopy and Charlie Brown. I grew up reading the comic books in the eighties. It blew me away how the themes in the Schulz' comic strip fit well for children and adults. Sometimes I still catch myself getting a taste of his adult humor.
One of the cool things I remember from the peanuts television specials were the voices of adults in the cartoon. Whenever they would speak, we would always hear, wa wa wa in a strange trumpet sound. I always thought that was neat.
