The Muppets were the brainchild of Jim Henson. He was the one who took the major credit in developing the characters on Sesame Street. Characters like big bird and oscar the grouch. But after creating Sesame Street he moved his endeavours to a show that was more muppet centric.
That show was the Muppet Show. It was a weekly show that had special guest stars every week. Characters in the show include Miss Piggy, Kermit The Frog, my favorite - The sweedish Chef and odles more. There are also many movies as well as Fraggle rock. The fraggles are also part of Jim Henson productions.
