Everything started with a pilot cartoon starring "Bosko the Talk-Ink Kid" entitled "Sinkin' in the Bathtub" in 1929. The cartoon was very popular and the creators followed it up with a show you might now called "Merry Melodies".
The other characters that you know were then slowly added to the "Merry Melodies" line up. They were as follows: Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Bugs Bunny, Tweety and Sylvester, Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote.
