Dodo Bird
Information

Although many people think the dodo bird still exists it is now extinct. When it was alive the dodo was larger then a swan or full-grown turkey. It weighed about 60 pounds and most of it's weight was distributed in its round flightless belly. Its legs were short, thick and stumpy and it's plumage was bluish-gray. The large beak on the dodo was the only defense it had against predators. The dodo cry was also similar to that of a common goose. Dodos lived in open plains or on the outskirts of forests. After the dodo was discovered on dodo island the animal was quickly killed for its feathers and meat. The Dutch were the ones who colonized the island and are responsible for its inevitable extinction. The Dodo is completely defenceless against humans and other predators. Man introduced dogs to dodoisland and many of them were killed off by dog attacks. Their island had never known any different predators before man introduced them.
