Chickens
are very interesting creatures. Most people think of
chickens as their next meal, but little is actually
known about the chicken that you are eating at tonight's
meal. Did you know that chickens have been kept as pets?
Some people keep them as pets and say that they can
be easily trained and have an individual personality.
Chickens love to have lots of space to roam. They get
bored and cause trouble, if they don't have space. The
maximum age of a chicken is around 25 years. It's very
rare for a chicken to live that long, because they are
so vulnerable to predators and disease. Due to their
vulnerability, the average age of a backyard chicken
is only about 3 or 4 years. This is even less if the
chicken is born to be food!
